SUMMARY:Application development in Linux/Unix environments. Part #1
DESCRIPTION:
In series of lectures/workshops/discussions we will discuss
how to develop applications in Linux/Unix. This is very rich topic and I don
't promise we will cover everything. Every lecture done be me (Martin H) wil
l be in English\, if at least one person there wouldn't understand Slovak (el
se it will be in Slovak). My lectures will be focused on compiled languages
(like C/C++) but much stuff is usable for others as well.

Topics for
first lecture:

Filesystem structure from application development
point of view (which files go where?)

Basic security (how should a
pplications work to be secure)

Vim basics (only if enough people wi
ll want it\; just to make changes of config files easier :))

Git bas
ics (and maybe some more advanced things\, if we will have enough time)

Examples will be provided. It's recommended to bring laptop with Lin
ux/Unix system\, so you can experiment.

Knowledge requirements for fir
st lecture: shell basics (I will be there since 18:00\, so I can explain it t
o those people\, who want to attend but don't know shell)

BTW\, if anyo
ne is interested in giving (lightning) talk as part of this series\, please w
rite me e-mail: martin dot habovstiak at gmail dot com
